Hingham Youth Soccer Travel league plays games against other South Shore teams in the Coastal Soccer league. Travel teams are a great way to further develop soccer skills, play against different players, and enhance sportsmanship and team work that will help any child grow.
Players will play a slightly larger field with slightly larger sized goals with designated goalies in the Travel league.
Participation in the Travel Program does require a larger commitment because of the time necessary for travel but the level of play is not necessarily higher in the travel program than the In-Town league.
Travel teams are determined based on tryouts to evaluate each player. To allow for fair and fun play with other towns, typically, there is an A team, B team, and Balanced teams, determined based on skill level. For player evaluations, HYS uses coaches from local club soccer programs, Galway Rovers FC and South Shore Select, and the HYS Director of Coaching. These coaches will conduct evaluations of the incoming 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade soccer players who have registered to participate in HYS Travel for the upcoming season.
The Travel league is divided into the following Divisions:
5th/6th grade: Separate boys and girls teams.
7th/8th grade: Separate boys and girls teams.
Games and Practice
All games will be on Saturdays. Approximately half of the games will be played in Hingham while the other games will be played away.
There will be at least one weekday practice as determined by your Coach.
Scores and results are recorded. In the Spring, teams compete in Coastal League divisions and may be eligible for playoffs and participation in other regional and state championships.
