  1. TRYOUTS

    1. Are complete. Form teams by 7/,1 which is also the refund date.

    2. Post results on website by number; no names. If kids cannot remember their number, call the Division Director.

    3. There will be A, B and Balance Teams. An email will be send via Sports Pilot to players on A & B Teams.

    4. There were 4 injured players who could not go to Tryouts.

      1. Talk to previous coaches & previous records

      2. Be careful of dropping good player to Balance Team

    5. S.Fetsko, J.Theis & C.Gong will review list of teams before sending out notifications

    6. We have received Select Coaches’ feedback already; expecting Galway’s soon.

  2. NUMBERS

    1. Registration numbers are down at the Travel level. There are 406 players registered and 20 who came to tryout without registering.

    2. As a result, there will be one less team per age group.

    3. In-town numbers are still expected to increase for Kindergarten registrants.

    4. Girls U14 down from 100 to 73. Boys U14 down from 120 to 108. 8th grade class leaving is very large. This may be a contributing factor.

    5. High school numbers for next year is expected to be high.

    6. Can have up to 25 players on balance teams (don’t have to have 20).

  3. COASTAL STEERING COMMITTEE

    1. Christopher Gong sits on this committee.

    2. Committee proposed requirement: If a town has three teams, then one team must play in MTOC Division. If four teams, then at least two must be MTOC.

      Exception: Sacred Heart.

      1. Some teams tend to sandbag their teams down, e.g. Carver

    3. Hingham came up as good role model on how to divide teams. We use professional clubs to evaluate players.

    4. Boys Goalies: 15-16 kids to evaluate by one guy àneeds help

    5. Girls Goalies: 4-6 girls

    6. Question: Is there a minimum score required (to make B Team) to play as Goalie?

    7. Next year maybe start tryouts earlier and have third session to bring back some kids for further evaluation.

  4. RYAN’S “SUMMER CAMP”

    1. There may be a potential issue in that the Hingham Board of Health requires SORI for Coaches. 7-14 days TAT

    2. C.Gong contacted Ryan, who confirmed camp is good to go.

  5. REFEREES

    1. Next Referee training is in Rockland

    2. In current database, incomplete contact info (email or cell phone)

    3. Can we accept games on behalf of kids?

    4. We should have spreadsheet of games and assign refs to them

    5. New uniforms for new Refs and those who have outgrown their old ones

    6. C.Gong will check with suppliers about ordering new uniforms

    7. Suzie will send email to promote referee scholarship incentive

  6. FIELDS

    1. Gather flags and put out new on fields

    2. We need to do a paint assessment

    3. Should we lock up the nets at Carlson? One has disappeared. If Select is running camp, then leave them.

    4. For next year: Lawnmower guys have to move the flags & goals to cut the grass.

    5. Margaret (Athletic Director) emailed all teams asking them to respect the equipment.

  7. MISCELLANEOUS

    1. Most equipment bags have been returned. Three U10 Team equipment still outstanding.

    2. Our taxes are done and will be filed. We are going to receive $1000 from Gatorade (designated by Eve).

  8. CHRIS FROM PCA

    1. Phase 1 – Update mission statement: Coaches’ roles and Parents’ pledge to sign by coaches and parents.

    2. Phase 2 – Workshops by PCA: Head coaches & Board members

      1. “Double Goal Coach” book

      2. HSP open to funding these workshops

      3. We will need at least two sessions for the number of coaches we have

      4. This year we had a few issues with Coaches that went to Coastal level with problems

      5. If we target Senior level & above, we would need only one meeting. Cost is $1400 per session. Hopefully HSP will cover half the cost.

      6. When to do it? After the season starts but before Columbus Day

      7. We are anticipating that not all Coaches will show up.

      8. Invite Chris to our Coaches’ Meeting to “sell” this workshop

      9. Comment from J.Slankas: Try to keep our cost below $1000 for this given the current enrollment deficit. Request from PCA & HSP, re: costs to discuss further at August meeting.

      10. We have Coaches’ Handbook. Our bylaws have mission statement.

      11. Make a check box during registration process for Coach’s Pledge & Parents’ Pledge?

  9. NEXT MEETING:

August 16 7:00PM Hingham Library Fearing Room
